Things slowed down this week, thankfully. Steady busy, not crazy busy!!
Thursday at work, Peter Ly called (1st counselor in the branch presidency) and left a message for
Gary, that they wanted him to speak this Sunday on tithing. Gary was out of the office. Peter Ly called back later in the afternoon
to see about it again, I answered this time, and told him that Elder Yearsley
wasn’t back yet, but I was sure he could do it.
Sat., we got up and started cleaning and laundry. I baked bread. The stake had a session at the temple, and we
met at the Yerba Buena bldg. at 1:15.
There was a chapel mtg first before the session. The Stake Pres. talked and also the Temple
Pres. This was our first time for an
endowment session here. The endowment
rooms are HUGE! We have been told they
seat 200. After the session, there was
refreshments after in the bldg next to the temple, the multi-stake bldg. We got home after 7 pm. So the day was done, and we never even got
our shopping done! We will have to get
groceries Monday evening.
While sitting in the chapel at the temple, Sister Lan leaned
over the seat, and said, you are teaching the lesson tomorrow, right? Well, I wasn’t scheduled till the 17th. But, it turned out that the lady who was to
teach today, Sister Janette, had to be out of town and was to call and change
lessons, but didn’t , so I did a last minute prep last night and this
morning. It went okay. I also have been asked at the last min. to
lead the music in sacrament meeting and Relief Society. Ah,
the life in a branch!! That’s why we are
here to help them.
Thankfully, the office work is easier now for me. This past week, though, I did the mail merge
for the first time to send letters to the apartment managers and apartment
inspectors. It took me a bit of time to
figure it out, but finally got it done.
I learned today that the Lorenzo Snow lessons aren’t
available in Vietnamese online. Sister
Lan and Sister Kim translate every one of those lessons for the branch! Talk about dedicated people! I don’t dare complain about being busy when
compared to them. And they are such
humble people. We really enjoy being a
part of their branch!
